The one rule of EENT: separate the can't-miss emergencies (acute angle-closure glaucoma, CRAO, globe rupture, chemical burn, retinal detachment, orbital cellulitis, malignant otitis externa, Ludwig's angina, retropharyngeal abscess, epiglottitis) from the common, benign complaints. Speed of referral is the test point as often as the diagnosis itself.
